Nature Counts – A wildlife walk across the causeway to the Worms Head

February 22, 2023 @ 11:30 am - 4:30 pm

View towards Worm's head from Rhossili

Have you ever walked across a dragon? The Worm’s Head gets its name from the Norse word for dragon, so this may be as near as you as get! We shall be trekking across the causeway to “the Worm” to take a closer look at the birds, plants and other wildlife we find. Whilst counting the number of species we find, we shall enjoy the breath-taking views across Rhosili Bay.

As with climbing over dragons, this trek is not for the faint-hearted. There is no clear path and many barnacle and mussel-covered rocks to traverse. Once at Worm’s Head, there are steep-sided slopes and rocky outcrops. Crossing the causeway can take up to an hour and we will need to start the return journey in good time before the tide comes in.
