Not sure we'd get the poppies but worth a try.Have you heard of #NoMowMay?

This month, many people will be leaving the mowers in the shed and letting their lawns and wildflowers come to life 🌼

This helps boost biodiversity, which is great for bees, butterflies and other garden wildlife 🐝🦋

If you can't bear not to mow your grass, please think about setting aside part of your garden to grow naturally to help native wildflowers and grasses to flourish. Then you can enjoy the diversity of insects and butterflies that will visit.

The State of Nature Wales Report (2023) states that:
"Wales, along with the other countries of the UK and like most other regions worldwide, has experienced a significant loss of biodiversity [i.e. the mix of different animal and plant species]."

The report says in summary that "...Wales is now one of the most nature-depleted countries on Earth."

Funding the Hwb

The Hwb Project represents a partnership between Rhossili Community Council, Rhossili Village Hall and a small group of volunteers from the local community. The project received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government and supported by Swansea Rural Development Partnership at Swansea Council. Match-funding was provided in-kind through Rhossili Village Hall and the time of volunteers.
