A walk back through time along the Rhosili headland (Bring your own snacks)

August 12, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

A guided walk around the Vile.
Our guide will lead you through the meadows and to the end of the headland where you can enjoy the breath-taking views of Worm’s Head. During the walk, you will be asked to imagine a time when oxen were used to plough fields, a castle camp protected farmers and a breeches buoy rescued sailors.

Gower’s landscape has been shaped by farming since the Stone Age. The Vile, at Rhosili, is an example of a Medieval open field strip system. With many archaeological features at Rhosili and along the South Gower coast, including Neolithic burial chambers, bronze age cairns and Iron Age forts, it is an ideal place to discover these remnants of our ancestors.

(This event is free as no cream tea will be provided. Feel free to buy your own refreshments on the day.)
