After 43 years of cutting the community’s hair at Beachcombers, Wendy Button and Chris Tancock will be shutting up shop by the end of this month and taking their scissors elsewhere! Wendy started Beachcombers in 1980 and Chris joined her 22 years ago. Wendy grew up in Gower and lived here until she married (having met her husband at the Countryman), when she then moved to Dunvant.

However, Wendy and Chris are not abandoning us. They’re moving to a more flexible setup based in Revive and Rejuvenate at 1 Lime Grove, Killay. Under a freelancing arrangement, they both will be ‘renting a chair’ in the salon for 3 days a week, Chris doing Thursday, Friday and every other Saturday and Wendy working from a late start on Tuesdays and all day Wednesday and Friday.

We asked Wendy what she had enjoyed the most about her time at their salon in Scurlage. She said, “It’s the sense of community and bonding with people. I like people generally and in this job, you get to hear about people’s lives and families. You do forge a bond with them.”

We’d like to thank them for their years of service and friendship, cutting our hair and sharing news and wish them all the very best in their new venture. See the leaflet below for contact details for appointments.
