The Gower Society is proud to have over 1500 members and strives to maintain the aims its founder members established in 1948. These aims are:

  • To promote the preservation, conservation and enhancement of the physical and natural environment of the area;
  • To promote and further the study and recording of the area’s antiquities, traditions, history, geography and natural history.
  • To preserve, protect and promote rights of way and access to Gower’s open spaces.
  • To work with other communities and organisations that share our aims for Gower.

In furtherance of these objects the Society supports the maintenance and restoration of historic structures such as churches and old stone walls.

The society’s committees of volunteers cover a wide range of topics including planning, grant applications, youth, publications and green/environmental opportunities.

Members receive a newsletter twice a year, plus a complimentary copy of Gower – a critically acclaimed publication containing articles covering a wide range of interests. A regular programme of walks, talks, folk dancing and other activities centred in Gower or Swansea are popular for members to enjoy.

We welcome new members. Please see our website for joining details.
