The RVH Social Committee started collecting for the food bank in 2018.

In 2020 Sally, Helen and Lesley-Anne experimented with asking the community for weekly donations and we’ve never looked back.

We have a plastic lidded collection box in the bus shelter at the bottom of School Lane in Middleton.  We clear it regularly and deliver the goods weekly to the local collection point at the Lamplighter in Bishopston. The goods are taken from there to the Trussell Trust in Swansea.

Rhossili Food Bank

The Trussell Trust opened the UK’s first food bank in a garden shed in Salisbury in 2000. Today it is the most experienced and well-organised Food Bank network in the country. There are eight Trussell Trust centres in Swansea (on different days, in different areas, in church halls and community centres).  This enables them to pool and distribute what they receive as the need balances out.

We communicate on the village WhatsApp and on the Hwb about which day we’ll be collecting/delivering and whether there are any items in particularly short supply but basic hygiene and sanitary products are always needed, as are any non-perishable food-stuffs (please remember to check best-before dates  –  they aren’t allowed to give out anything that is out of date).

Thank you for your unlimited generosity and support everyone.
